Emphasizing feeling wonderful in your body isn’t exactly a priority when it comes to the media we consume everyday. In any feminist, fat-positive journey being critical of and selective in the media you consume is an important first step to changing how you view yourself and the mainstream, weight-obsessed culture. Podcasts are a great first step because it’s audio that you can’t really tune out. Unlike music on your early morning commute or as you’re making dinner, podcasts in their endless categories and formats have the intrigue to make you think, to challenge you, and to inspire you.
When you type in any variation of “body positivity” in your podcast app, dozens of options pop up. But instead of indulging in another hour-long, moony “love-yourself” diatribe, consider a more radical approach: fat positive and body inclusive talkshows.
Instead of listening to the political pundits on TV or tuning out to Lemonade once again, give your body and soul some TLC with these fat positive podcasts.
